A video installation made for the exhibition, ‘Welcome Back’,
‘Route’ follows an unsettling and fearful journey of North Korean defectors near the borders between North Korea, China, Thailand and Mongolia. It is a collage of images molded together leading us into an unpredictable journey of temporality and impermanence. The structure is made with painted panels, like a painted box, with a reflective wall expanding the projection images into a panoramic view.
